Banner Health has 19 hospitals, six long term care centers and an array of other services, including family clinics, home care services and home medical equipment services, in eight western states - Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada, and Wyoming. Portfolio of assets includes approximately 11,000 asset line items that produce approximately 90,000 maintenance transactions each year. It is anticipated that the transactions will grow by of 10% per year. Banner Health employs about 21,500 employees, also making it one of the country's largest employers. The company's Arizona region, alone, employs nearly 15,000 people.
The Facility Maintenance System Project (Project) was established to purchase and implement a solution that would provide the following to the Banner Health:
After a long and extensive search for a system solution, Banner Health System selected TMA's Enterprise solution. In addition, Banner utilises the TMA DMA Palm interface, iService Desk, and the TMA Biomed Module.
There were three major phases to the overall project. Phase I entailed migrating 5 existing TMA Client sites from existing TMA WorkGroup product to TMA Enterprise.
Phase II: Convert 4 clients from MP2 to TMA Enterprise Microsoft SQL.
Phase III: Continue to add additional 10 sites that previously had no facility maintenance software.
Phase IV: Implement and convert existing data for Clinical Engineering. Existing data included information related to tracking and maintaining all clinical pieces of equipment system wide.
TMA actively worked with Banner Health personnel during all tasks of the Project ensuring the results were clearly understood and useful to the Banner Health. The effectiveness of the Project was closely linked to the knowledge base and practices of TMA staff.
TMA has greatly assisted Banner Health in their strategy of Facility Maintenance and Clinical Engineering. The system has improved the availability and quality of information at all levels to assist with the day-to-day management of the Banner Health. TMA further benefits Banner Health with a tool to evaluate the success of the Banner Health actions, objectives and goals.
Training of Banner Health personnel was crucial in allowing maximum utilisation of the TMA system. During this Project phase, TMA staff trained the Banner Health team in a manner that improved workflow processes and provided timely and relevant information to management at their Corporate Office.
Banner Health personnel had a wide scope of knowledge, ranging from novice computer users to dedicated database administrators. TMA tailored the training tracks to address the appropriate needs of each group. TMA developed a series of training services that allowed Banner Health to implement the TMA solution in an efficient and effective manner allowing for the fastest return on investment.
TMA met Banner's goals during the implementation stage and continues to meet their ongoing goals through support of the system on an ongoing basis.
